National debt from 1940 to 2010

     

Since 2005 the foreign exchange holdings of the Chinese govt has risen from just over 500 billion to 3.3 Trillion dollars. That is a direct transfer of wealth to China in exchange for baubles and trinkets. Before, they would roll those dollars into treasuries. No more. The Chinese are paring their holding of US debt.
